Hello guys,


I'd like to know if there's a way to record the digital stream of an SD channel

directly from Charter Cable in Reno, NV


what kind of equipment would I need.


a friend of mine still uses a DVD-R recorder and converts the recorded

DVD-R's on his PC.


the perfect solution would be to have some kind of DVR that records directly onto HD and a way to transfer the .trp or .rec , or .... files directly to the PC.

There is nothing that I know that can capture SD digital to digital except maybe an old cable box with firewire. You are going to have to use the analog signal.

you want to tell me that the US is behind Europe in capturing the raw

digital stream on cable?


I don't know if you know the great Dreambox receiver that has been selling here in Europe like crazy for the last 4 years. every single cable receiver and

satellite receiver can capture the raw scream and send it to a PC or better yet, with the Dreambox you stream content in a network.



you still have CableCard, right?


that would mean that the CA module could be used in any digital cable receiver and PVR that supports it, right?
