Very interesting.

Contrast ratio (full on/off) is low at 350.

I wonder if it can take component input via VGA as it has no RCA inputs for component signal.

Anybody found a retailer and a street price yet?

cheers,

Luxeon (Delta) had a XGA LCOS machine in some of their product info for the last year, but it's not currently listed on their website. The CR was spec'd at 300:1.

Yep, steve, that's the Everest design.

Is LCOS at that resolution not likely to have alot of screen door?

Hi,

I don't hear people (me included) complain much about screen door issue on the LT150. A XGA LCOS should have even much LESS screen door. If one insists, how about a Panamorph?

In my first link, a 1280x768 WXGA LCOS is coming soon...

It also doesn't look like it accepts component input. That with the contrast ratio doesn't make it look like a great HT PJ, but its nice to know that LCOS is getting to the mainstream price point.

LCOS should have less screendoor than LCD at any given resolution. Unfortunately, the LCOS technology will always have inherent limitations on CR and color saturation, as the light is passing through the picture element twice. Read some of the JVC whitepapers for more info.

Of course, a lot of work has been done to overcome those limitations, so who knows what the future might bring. At this point, though, I think most of the mfr's exploring XGA LCOS are doing so to leverage the potentially much lower manufacturing cost, much like DLP mfr's spent several years primarily leveraging the size and weight advantages of that technology.
