Hi all,

I am a newbie and would like to ask you experts for some advice on "Cheapest best bang for the buck speaker/reciever combo'' for a Home theater system. Could be HTIB though I have tried kenwood htb504 and was very disappointed.

I have read good reviews on denon 1801, 1802 for budget home theaters any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Aperion Audio has some good package deals using their speakers, subs, and Onkyo receivers. The speaker systems have gotten great reviews.

You can also look at Ascend Acoustics. They have packages with their speakers and Hsu subwoofers. Also great reviews. I use one of their setups with a Marantz SR4300 ($350 street). I could not be more happy.

Pioneer has also come out with what seems to be a very cost effective receiver. People have been discussing it here:

Onkyo also has some good HTIB kits.

I'd look into getting the entry level Denon receiver (i'm not sure which one that is) and then take a look at the Energy sat/sub systems...or the Paradigm cinema series system...both are under $700 bucks for 5.1 speakers. So for under $1000 you can have a pretty good sounding system that will kill ANY htib set up.

Get Wharfedale Diamond 8 package from ayselectronis.com and HK 325 from onecall.com or jandr.com. Unbeatable combination IMO. Excellent sound for minimal outlay. You should be able to get the speakers and the receiver for under $1000.00. Acsend Acoustics and Aperion Audio are also excellent choices but are bookshelves so need a stand. More $$$

I purchased the ascend 5.1 system,2cbms-,3htm-200 and hsu sub vtf-2, powered by Harman Avr-225, a year ago, and enjoying every last musical + hometheater note. The above system replaced a Bose LS12ll which is now in the bedroom. The ascend system and the harman receiver combined, cost much less than the Bose acoustimas and the performance is astounding relative to the "bose Hype". There is really no contest. Presently awaiting the new center channel upgrade which should be released very soon.
