I need an inexpensive receiver with high quality component switching for two inputs.

Power, and even processing is not as important. I am limited to using it in stereo mode (!) with perhaps some artificial surround sound from front L&R. My installation will not allow use of more than small L&R fronts with a subwoofer. And it has to be narrow -- 3 to 4 inches tall max.

It's for use with HDTV sat and DVD -- both via component to a plasma so I do want high quality video switching.

I'm very willing to go with used so even out of date models are acceptable.

Does anyone know of new OR old, slim receivers with high quality component switching for two inputs I can pick up for approx. $300?

Thanks

The Panasonic digital units are probably a good bet.

XR25/45 or the new XR-30/50

I'm looking for the same kind of receiver but with a couple of different needs, will the Denon still be best based on the following?

1) Component switching like he said

2) Dish Network remote can drive the audio (Dish Remote won't work with my Denon 1602) - my current A/V receiver is the only component that my Dish remote won't control properly

3) Compact size (would be nice, but not critical)

I was looking into the Kenwood - Fineline (VRS-7100) since it has 2 component inputs and is fairly compact. I was hoping to stay away from Denon due to the remote control issue with my Dish remote.

Yamaha htr 5790 has all those features and is a kick ass performer.
