Cheapest MAC DVHS setup?

202 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  DaveFi
Guys, I'd really like to make solid DVHS recordings as XP makes sucky ones, so what's the cheapest MAC setup I could get to solidly make DVHS recordings?

I already have a CRT with dual inputs, so I have no need to purchase another.

Download the Firewire SDK from the Apple website, and you should be good to go. There are some altered versions floating around here that might make some recording a little bit easier. However, remember that the Mac Mini is not a 5C compliant device, so anything with a 5C flag won't be able to be recorded.

That being said, the Mac is a great DVHS recorder.
iRecord is one such altered version of the SDK. Does your HDTV have Firewire? I ask because the cheaper and older Macs do not have the power to playback the file without dropped frames. I used a T165 and also a MyHD card after changing the file extension to .ts.
You lost me a million times over. I don't own a Mac at all. I own a PC running XP.

I think you misunderstand. I want to transfer HD transport files to a standalone DVHS deck (JVC 30K).
