Hi there-


Just out of curiousity, what's the cheapest way to get QAM support out of a receiver? I want to dump my comcast box and go with a 3rd party solution.


Also, do the boxes would with analog cable or just digital? Ie. Do I need one set of inputs for digital and one for analog?

It not worth it. The box that tunes only QAM doesn't support encrpyted signals, which is mosly what comcast is sending you for your digital line-up. Wait until we see the QAM with CableCard boxes come, that don't include a DVR and that will solve all your porblems, and it shouldn't cost that much after a while.

Oh yea, I knew I wouldn't get the encrypted channels... I should probably wait for the cablecard ones anyway. More should be out soon...

Only if all the cable company employees don't go postal out of continuing frustration dealing with even stand alone cablecards. There is a learning curve involved, and many cable companies still don't get it yet.
