I have the ELT525 5.0 setup with the denon avr 1909 receiver. (their 1699 deal a year and a half ago). my living room is right around 2k cubic ft volume for the listening area, and i mainly use it for tv/movies/xbox. my budget would be about 300 bucks


i'm pretty happy without a sub, but sometimes when playing rockband or watching an action movie w/ lots of explosions i find myself wondering what i'm missing without the sub.


I was wondering what kind of sub you guys would recommend for this setup. i want one that would compliment my speakers well. basically, if i want to know if i get a low end sub if i'll be able to notice it.

I'd check out the Elemental Designs A2-300.


Its $350 shipped; its a single 12" down-firing ported sub. I haven't heard the A2-300 personally, but I've listened to a couple different eD subs and I can tell you they offer an incredible "bang for the buck" value. And if you check the specs on this puppy, you'll see it will definitely let you hear and feel the things you've been missing. And just taking a quick peek at the ELT525 specs, I'll say if you go with the A2-300 you'll realize right away you've been missing a LOT.
