I just finished building my HTPC. I used a Gigabyte GA-81NXP motherboard with the Granite Bay chipset. The disk that came with the motherboard has a set of drivers for this chipset. What do these drivers do for me ?? The system seems to be running fine so far without them. Should I install the drivers?

Thanks,

Dennis

It's a "Be all you can be" situation. I just saw an article in Maximum PC that puts it in better terms:

"...Windows XP (and ME to an extent)has a library of generic drivers for much of the world's hardware, but it's likely that those drivers don't take full advantage of your hardware, or are horribly out of date. For maximum performance and stability, we strongly recommend that you install your mobo's most recent chipset drivers so the OS knows exactly what it can do with your hardware."

I would trust the latest Gigabyte drivers.
