CHOICES OF - The Prestige or Pirates of Caribbean Black Pearl

2771 Views 42 Replies 37 Participants Last post by  kasuza
I got a ps3 with the 5 free movies deal, I have 4 picked out from the catagories, and am trying to narrow down last catagory looking for advice from viewers who have seen the movies and can comment on the video transfer quality etc?

What I picked was

Stir of Echoes, Full Metal Jacket, The Patriot, The Last Waltz

WHat I have left to pick from are

The Prestige (never saw it), Wild Hogs(not a fav), Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of Black Pearl (never saw it)

I saw wild hogs not interested in seeing it again, thinking the pirates one for replay value, but never saw prestige either.... input on the blu-ray video quality the movie quality appreciated.

Pirates is a family flick. Prestige is more for people who are 15+. Both are good movies with great PQ.
Prestige was fantastic, but you can never ever go wrong with Captain Jack Sparrow and the Pirates of the Caribbean.
go with pirates if you don't have it. the prestige was a good movie till the end where it just dive bombed.
'The Prestige' if you like something fresh and unpredictable. 'POTC' if you like the fun adventure-comedy type.
The Prestige is the better movie, but not sure about the replayability of it.

Hard to put the cat back in the bag if you know what I mean.

Pirates was fun, but hardly going to be on AFI's Top 100 any time soon.
The Prestige. Better movie and doesn't have any framing issues.
Prestige
I think The Prestige is the better of the two movies, but I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for picking PotC: CotBP as it is quite entertaining.

Pirates is the more visually stunning of the two, so if you're more into demo material, go that way, but for sheer movie quality there's no comparison - The Prestige all the way.

Prestige is a good show, but I can't imagine watching it more than once.

Well, I watched the Prestige once, and really, thats about all you need in terms of viewings.

Whereas with POTC, everyone wants to watch it, I've probably seen it at least 6+ times and it doesnt get boring.
They both are amazing movies...I'd say wait for a BOGO deal from Amazon and get both. Sorry, glanced over that you could only pick one. I'd say if you have to pick one, flip a coin and just go with it. They both are great.
Prestige
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Pirates. You won't regret it.

The Prestige is better every time I see it and I notice new things every time I see it. Yes, the movie has a plot twist... but this one is more along the lines of Fight Club (notice new things every time) than The Sixth Sense (seen it once, never need to see it again).

Pirates is also a great movie, however. You can't go wrong with either pick.

Prestige, hands down! Come on now...Christian Bale is a god!

I need both of these movies in my collection. So whatever one you don't choose, just pick it up at a later time.

Have you seen the Blu-ray Tier thread?

I used that list to choose my free movies based upon picture quality. I figured that even if I didn't enjoy the movie, I could enjoy the PQ
.
