Choose between Denon AVR-X6500H / AVR-X4500H

With the price tag difference and currently I have 5.2.4 setup (Would like to bi-amp FL/FR), I would like to ask for current AVR-X6500H/AVR-X4500H users to give me some suggestions, the only big difference I can spot among these 2 receivers are the following:

AVR-X6500H Vs AVR-X4500H

Power Consumption(W): 750 Vs 710
Power Output (At 8 ohm, in W): 140 Vs 125
Number of Power Amp: 11 Vs 9
Made in: Japan Vs Vietnam

Does it worth to pay another $500 to get AVR-X6500H over AVR-X4500H?

I'm pretty sure you meant another $500 not another $5,000 more for the 6500. I would say unless you're going to be using all 11 Channels with amplification with the 6500 it doesn't make much sense as the power difference between the two is negligible and the sound quality is the same. I speak from experience I started out with the 4500 after upgrading from my 4300 and then I use Denon to exchange program to get the 6500 because I wanted to add an additional two Atmos speakers to run a full 7.1.4 set up.

Not to say the Bi-wireing is just a marking thing to get some people upset...well its just a marketing thing. You have a internal crossover that doesnt change nor are you sending different singles to each set of terminals. If you had say no crossover and a DSP set for each channel one to tweeter and another to a woofer that would yield a better result. IMO dont wast your time being concerned about bi-wiring.

If your only using 5.x.4 get the 4500 and be done with it. The total power out put is almost no difference between the two as your looking at 80 ish watts per channel with all 9 channels driven. I have had back luck with my old model 4xxx as im down to my last HDMI board. I find that the denon marantz stuff does not hold up as well as Yamaha. So I would actually suggest going with the 2080 or the 3080. If you really need the extra two channels get a external amp and it will look cool. Also you can reuse that amp when you go to upgrade and save money on the next AV purchase cause your gonna buy another one come several years from now as all of us do.

@HikaruJ just to add to what @lemonslush said, I believe the a2080 is capped at 5.2.4 but the a3080 can expand to 7.2.4.

No, it makes ZERO sense to spend another $500. Use the 4500 buy a nice used stereo amp for the front L and R and run everything else off of the 4500. I will guarantee you it will sound better than bi-amping your front L and R..
(of course this is just my opinion, but i have had the 4500 and the 6500 as well as various amps in my system at the same time..

Buy the 4500 if you're not going to run 7. 2 or 7.1.4
If you want better performance buy an Emotiva XPA gen 3 for LCR and let the receiver handle the rest of your speakers. The 4500 can be used as a prepro and has decoding for 11.2 if you add external amplification. You can find open box Denon 4500 for well under MSRP which should still have 3 year warranty. Refurbished comes with only a 1 year warranty.

Thanks for pointing out my typo, yes it is indeed $500 difference ($5K is quite insane

). At this moment I only have 5.2.4, I noticed 4500 can only have Height 1/2 to be assignable, while 6500 can have surround back to be assignable too, 4500 limits the possibility of bi-amp if I will go for rear Atmos speaker. Again I'm quite puzzled if bi-amp will make my RP-280FA better or not (My current amp doesn't have bi-amp). What do you think about the rear Atmos speaker? Does it really give you a better experience?

Thanks for your comments. Bi-wiring should not really change a lot compare to bi-amp, just curious how much of the difference with bi-amp/non bi-amp? When you said the crossover setting at THX recommended frequency 80Hz, when the receiver is at Direct mode, I thought this crossover will be bypass, is that correct? The reason I choose Denon because of its well known Audyssey, it seems like most people get the best measurements from Denon's receiver, just don't know if this is true to believe. Also 6500 is made in Japan, I don't know if this contribute better QC of the receiver, or I should not even worry about it.

If I have another stereo amp for FL/FR, should I connect it with single connection/bi-amp?

Currently I'm doing my little research and prepare for Black Friday sale, but I will think about the external amp option for my FL/FR.

I think 4 atmos speaker will be way more noticeable than bi-amping the front speakers. The panning effect around the space, especially front to back and vice versa, is much more authentic with 4 atmos speakers IMHO.

Do you place the Atmos speaker on top of the front speaker, or mount it as height speaker?

None of the replies addressed the topic of Made in Vietnam vs. Made in Japan. Are the AVR's Made in Japan not of higher quality/reliability?
