Both seem to be similarly capable. I can get either for about the same price (near $950)

Any strong reasons for / against either model?

I also saw the Yamaha RX-V2700 in the same price range, but these 2 seems to surpass it.

The 876 has slightly better video processing with the Reon (the 2x HDMI output is also very nice) , but is missing some network features that are included with the 906. IMHO the Onkyo also has a slight edge in audio quality. I like the Audyssey XT and dynamic volume features on the Onkyo as well.

The Denon may be more to some peoples taste if you happen to have a chance to listen to both - I did and picked the Onkyo, although I would have been very happy with the Denon as well.

Both are factory refurbs. New ones several hundred more.

Been looking at the TX-SR876 myself (currently have a TX-NR801). A new NR906 would be nice but I just can't seem to swallow the price differential just for the Net features.

The 876 (new) at Amazon (Amazon is vendor) is $989.
