Woo-hoo!

I've made a significant leap tonight, so this is a good spinoff point from these earlier blending threads...
My CRT Blending Attempt (John the Depot Dude)
Clarence's blending attempts
Edge Blending is HOT these days...I need help!
CRT Blending - The story so far.

My first partial success a few nights ago was this blend ( post , screenshot ) using a VPH1271 and a ECP3101 (I also did a ECP4101+ECP3101 setup and a VPH1031Q+VPH1031Q setup). But the overlap settings were screwed up and the center part of the screen ended up smoothly disappearing.

But today John received his Nvidia FX 3000 video card, so I promised to document the settings I was using. While documenting these settings, for some reason, IT WORKED! For the first time, the right projector and left projector are properly blended and are properly overlapped! This isn't a simple 50/50 split/join, this is a 32-bit 1920x768 image shared across two CRTs with a 128 pixel smoothly faded overlap!

I don't really know what I did differently on these settings than the permutations I've tried all week, but for some reason, while documenting these settings with screenshots for John, my blending overlap now works fine.

YES, BLENDING ACROSS 2 PROJECTORS WITH NVIDIA'S POWERWALL DRIVERS ON A QUADRO FX 1000 CARD IS WORKING!!!!!!

Now the bad news...

I'm on the road the next 2 weeks and we're moving during the 3rd week, so after tonight, my projectors will be down for at least a month!!!!

So John and Tedd, take these settings and carry the torch.

Time to set up my camera and take some screenshots.

Woo-WoHo-Hoo!

That's a blend with an overlap..:)

A big thanks for the slide one - it seems straighforward..

I'm using the Holo 3DII app along with Powerstrip..not exactly sure how these change but I'm assuming these are set up at 1080P using a 4:3 screen..I'll start with 2 PC monitors today and with your Nvidia settings and go from there..

Sure hope you can keep in touch over the next 2 weeks..

Where do I change overlay mode in nvidia?

I tried here:

nvidia control panel

- Performance and quality settings

- - OpenGL settings

- - - Additional OpenGL Properties

[ ] Enable overlay in OpenGL (I tried both checked and unchecked)

And there's not much to enable in the "Overlay Controls". There's just a "zoom" setting. (see attachment)

I also tried VMR9 in zoomplayer. Same results...

The DVD plays fine if the entire window is on the left screen or the right screen, but if it straddles the blend zone, it turns black at the blend (not fade to black, but a sharp edge to black).

I've changed nothing, yet I've changed everything...

Whatever I did last night that fixed the overlap, broke the overlay blending for DVD (again, desktop blends fine and I get a smooth mouse transition in the blend zone from from projector1 to projector2.

What about screen shots of the current achievement?

OK, but no excuses... I'm fully aware that this looks like crap.

My effort is still concentrated on getting the proper output from the card... with a blended overlap so ~10% of the image is shared on both projectors and gradually fades out on one projector as it fades in on the other projector. That's where the last night's achievement was.

But I'm still tackling the black overlay when playing a DVD across the blend zone.

So I didn't do any physical alignment in this screenshot. The 1271 still has the RP shims in it, so it's not focused or converged. The 3101 is still off kilter and off color.

The blend zone here isn't physically aligned or feathered yet... I was just excited to get the mouse to track smoothly across a 16' wide screen. Actually, the image is ~16' wide, but my screen is "only" 12' wide, so you can see the overflow on the left and top.

thanks again Clarence for your PP image --I used your settings and have it set up nicely across 2 computer monitors..

Desktop and Holo app menus all look fine spanned across..

Here's the problem..

I cannot get the DVD image displayed on both monitors at the same time..

When I launch the Holo app, the left side plays - after 30 seconds the left goes blank and right image displays..

The right stays on for 15 minutes or so then flips back to the left

Rebooting and relaunching Holo has same results - at least what happens is consistent..

When either side is blank the Holo menus come up and are displyed correctly on both monitors..

I never touched Powerstrip and the Holo app pulled in the correct 2048 x 768 resolution..

I turned off the screensaver on the display and no change..

The left monitor is analog (DVI-->VGA adaptor) and right monitor is DVI-->DVI in case this may be a factor..

Any suggestions as to what I could try?

I tried everything within powerstrip - the Holo app and the Nvidia drivers and it is slightly worse now..

I can only get the left image - and nothing (with DVD) on the right monitor..

desktop is still fine across both..

I don't have any PC players installed on the HTPC but worth trying at least so I can duplicate Clarence's setup..

the holo pull down menus are also properly across both...

Ted is bringing a couple of DVI -->RGB adapters in the morning and we'll hook it up to the CRT's and see what happens..

Sorry I can't think of anything to help John.

That nvidia blending driver is frustrating, isn't it? The settings effect each other and the same combinations don't always seem repeatable. Every once in a while I rebooted just to give the bits a chance to figure out where they should be.

I think you guys need to use VMR9 rather than Overlay.

Way to go Jesse!

That was it - switched to VMR9 and have the image fitting properly on both monitors..

I'm happy again..:)

am going to set it up for 1080P here then we try the 1292's..

John-

Where did you make the switch to VMR9? I tried it in zoomplayer and it didn't make any difference. Is there a place in the nvidia control panel?
