My dad has a Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 1080P LCD and it has pretty major dust build up on the inside of the screen.

I've had no luck finding anybody else reporting this problem so I don't know what's up with it. Has anyone heard of this problem before?

Is it possible to disassemble and safely clean the inside of the screen?

On a side note, I disassembled my Samsung LNT4065F today and successfully soldered/replaced two new capacitors that went bad.

I asked the same question about my Toshiba and no one helped me either.

I think what looks like "dust" is really a defect ("clouding" or "banding") beginning to appear in the LCD panel. I ended up replacing the set.
