Contrary to what I've been told on this forum, poping the top off of a PLV70 or SE20HD does indeed void the warrantee. I discovered this while talking to SE tech support regarding what appears to be a failing polarizer filter(s) on my SE20HD.

It looks like they'll honor the warrantee and fogive my ignorance. Within the warrantee period they say to send the unit to them for cleaning.

Just a heads up for folks who might be blasting away the dust blobs.

Other than telling tech support you "popped your top", how would anyone know we did ?

My top has been popped a few times and there are no secret seals, threads or other "if you take off your top you'll get caught" schemes from the factory or SE.

Just don't pop your top like JHouse did :). He'll have to tell you what happened.

I've cleaned my panels numerous times.

Frankly, it's more risky to send this 20 lb projector back and forth via UPS for a simple cleaning.

Exactly. I was under the impression that in the early days some people were told how to clean the blobs by tech support (i.e. you have two options: you can send it in to us or you can do it yourself like this). I've cleaned mine a couple of times in two years.

Speaking of SE20HD/PLV70 dust blobs, I have one persitent green blob that appears in the upper right corner of the image. Which panel is the green one and where would could I concentrate the blast to rid myself of the blob? Anyone have a labeled photo or sketch of the optics path for these projectors?
