I've heard quite a few good things about the channelmaster 4248, but not as much about the 4228A. By looking at channelmaster's homepage it says the 4228A reception of UHF channels is 15 miles farther. So I'm guessing it would be the better one to go for.

My big question is, would the 4228A be noticably better? I'm wondering because even though I can put up an outdoor antenna where I live, I think the 4228A is really big and ugly compared to the 4248.

The 60 mile range on the 4228A is probably enough for me to be able to pick up both San Diego and LA stations (I live in north san diego county) but the 4248 has a 45 mile range, which probably wouldn't cut it for the LA stations, or would it?

My distance from San Diego is about 35 miles, but about 60 to LA, and I don't have much blocking me in either direction.

Thanks!
