It has been like that for months. I am a DirecTV customer, so I can't say if it is unique to D*, but it was probably mid last year when I first noticed.

I would guess something, somewhere is not flagged correctly.

Just didn't know that capability even exists; to go beyond 5.1, that is...

Do a search for "Dolby Atmos"....

"The first generation cinema hardware, the "Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor" supports up to 128 discrete audio tracks and up to 64 unique speaker feeds..."

Technically I suspect that it would be very possible, IFF CNN provided the AC3 stream to everyone. Then they could do 7.1.

I'm not sure why CNN would have to do anything beyond DD2.0.

The placement of the sixth channel is where Jeff Zucker pulls his ideas from - the center backside:

What is 6.1? I know the speaker distribution for 5.1 and 7.1 or even 9.1 but don't get how 6.1 would work.

Let me guess, that area doesn't get much sunshine.
