Is there any real protection to pass through your coaxial cables from a satellite dish to a surge protector?? On my surge protector there are satellite connectors in and out. Are they of any value?? (lighting is not a issue in my area)
Lightning fields even several miles distant can energize all incoming coax cable (AND telephone wires going to a Sat STB or a computer modem) just as easily as down the power wires into the house. Cabletv coax and external antenna coax also need to pass thru surge protector terminals.
