An outfit called "Ocean Optics" supplies Texas Instruments with Color Wheels for DLP.

Are they the only suppliers of Color Wheels for DLP?

What other kind of technology uses color Wheels like DLP?

What about fLCD, D-ILA, GLV and other LCOS technologies out there?

Do they use color wheels too and if not, what do they use

instead?

LCOS projectors use 3 panels (Most DLPs use 1 panel hence the color wheel), one each for Red, Green, and Blue, therefore all primiaries are represented on the screen at the same time.

The Ocean Optics Color wheels are made by OCLI/ A JDS Uniphase Company located in Santa Rosa, CA 707-525-6957. I visited their booth at the SID convention in Boston, MA this week.

You would have to reprogram the TI processor for the color wheel timing to utilize this type of technology as the current timing parameters will not be valid for it. This would prove to be very difficult for most of us to perform as I don't think even TI has got it perfected yet.
