If it is Passport, instead of hitting the Record key try bringing up the guide first, highlight the show you want, then hit the Record key. I think by just hitting the Record key alone it's giving you the option of Creating a Manual Recording that's all. I have an SA DVR with Passport but it should work the same on the Motorola unit.
