I got a new HD tv for Christmas and I take it so didn't a lot of other people. I tried three different locations and they are all out of HD boxes. One said two to four weeks unless you are lucky and somone turns one in. To me this is not acceptable

Anyone have any ideas?

Call the 800 #?

Or, get an HD TiVo. You'll still need something from Comcast; a CableCARD. The advantege, for some, is getting a TiVo, with all it's cool features. The disadvantage is no PPV, VOD, cable guide.

Have you tried scanning your comcast cable? If your tv has an integrated QAM tuner and comcast has HD local networks unencrypted, both are very likely, you could be watching HD now.

As others said, plug her in and give it a scan, both analog and digital. You may be surprised what comes up. Any TV with ATSC and QAM should work.

Locally we have all the "must carry channels" and two others, all in HD. Might just be the cable companies recognize that if the OTA football game is in 1080i HDTV OTA and the the cable only has 720p, there might be a problem. The cable has the identical resolution as the channels OTA signal.
