I'm hoping someone else has seen this before. I have Comcast's HD DVR service and for the most part it works ok. However, occassionally when watching a recorded HD show it will lose sound for a couple seconds then return to normal or the picture gets all pixelated or frozen for a few seconds, then returns to normal. Occasionally I lose both picture and sound for a few seconds.

The wierd thing is, it seems to happen more on ABC than any other channel. It has happened on CBS a few times, but ABC will pretty much happen at least once per hour show I record.

Comcast has been out several times to boost the signal and replace my box, I'm now on my 6th box. The box is a motorola I think 6812 or something like that series 3. One guy told me that the series 3 boxes have this problem so he gave me a series 2, which made it even worse.

Does anyone know what it could be? Does it make sense that ABC is worse than anything else?

Thanks!

I had some real bad dropouts and pixilazaton problems back in October 05. I was able to beg my way to being connected with a supervisor in the service department and she was kind enough to schedule her best technician.

That guy should up with 2 helpers and using meters they tested and replaced everything from 2 phone polls away from the house to where the cable entered my house at my garage. Since then I have had very few problems.

My advice is to whine up the line and if at first you don't succeed call back later. Also, when calling ask where the person is that your talking to. You will have more success if your talking to someone near by then someone in a call center somewhere far.

I've been reading this more and more recently -- that problems like this are often tracked back to inferior or just plain old coax, either from the head-end to your home, or within your home. Replacing the wire often makes all the difference.
