DVI-D is digital (that's the -D). VGA is analog, so this is why you need a converter box and not just an adapter.

Comcast Motorola HD Tunerbox has DVI-D out - Monivision VGA-in?
DOES anyone know if I can I run the Comcast Motorola HD Digital box right into my Monivision monitor (1024x768x60hz progressive-scan moniter with VGA-input) using the Motorolas DVI-D out and some kind of VGA converter-box, and would the signal be good? Anyone tried this? I have seen the little (DVI-D to VGA) converters but looks like they are a couple hundred bucks -
THx for your help - if you have a Monivision with problems - PULL THE VISIONBOX off the back first thing! They are cheeeep and dont last 2yrs even!
