Hi all,


I just got Comcast service yesterday, switching from D* due to the better HD offerings. I have the SA 3100HD STB. How do I tell what firmware version I have? Also, how can I tell if I've gotten an update?

on front panel of 3100:


hold 'select' until 'mail light' comes on, while still holding, press 'info' status summary menu comes up (page 1 of 16)


scroll through 16 pages using vol+ the third press should bring up software info


to exit press 'exit'

Is this the very latest Comcast HD box? Does it have DVI output? If not, and I'm getting a Comcast HD box for the first time, what should I ask for?

this is one of the earliest boxes: it scales everything to 1080i from its component video output (no DVI)


if possible, you want ANYTHING BUT the SA3100HD stb


in my area this is all that Comcast has to offer, but now I have heard a new stb with DVI (and possibly a DVR) will soon be available


with Comcast, you don't get too excited about new offerings 'available soon'
