Commercial advance on an older Replay?

First, what is the Commercial Advance, is it only available on newer machines? I assume this is different from the 30 second skip button.

Are there any patches to the OS to add this feature to older Replays (Panasonic 2000 series)?

nope - will never be on the pre-4000 models

automatically skips over commericials in about 2 seconds...seems to work reliably for me about 75% of the time

On the SS or any v3 software unit, you can push a number then the skip button and it will skip that many minutes. i.e. push 3 then skip and it will skip 3 minutes (the length of a typical commercial break)

However, this only works on shows that are recorded, not delayed.
