Company of Heroes. What is the gameplay like?

I saw a brief video of it youtube. I have a small handful of questions. Can you send you forces to a certain point and sim the battle? If you can, I know I'll do simming and the actual fighting. And most importanly, can you go beyond WW2 re-writing history in the game?

You're in luck...you can get the demo (free) through Steam! The game is also available for DL for $20. I played the demo and liked it but never pulled the trigger. I don't think it does what you're looking for though.

Nope, it's a normal, top-down RTS. However, you can zoom in all the way to see your soldiers up close. However, you don't control them directly.

I just got it for Christmas and have only played a dozen or so of the single-player levels - only Allied forces so far. It's pretty historical. I'm not sure what happens when you play the German side.

It's a good game though, I thoroughly enjoy it.
The gameplay is VERY similar to Commandos if you ever played that.
