use my ReplayTV 3060 with a Digital Cable box, via R blaster, and there is a long delay between the time when change the chanel on MY Replay, and when t actually gets changed on my box. Is this process quicker on a DirecTV box connected va serial cable? Also, are there any digital cable boxes/systems that supposrt the serial cable input? If not, when do you guys reccomend that do???

Remember that part of your delay is for the hard drive to begin recording the new incoming signal prior to displaying it on your television. That said, I recently changed from a DirecTV box with a serial cable to one that did not have a serial input, so I can say that clearly, it is faster. You'll probably save about a second per channel change.

There are also posted solutions for the settings to use with a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 box... If that is what you are using, set the number of send digits to 3 with a Return by changing the remote device code to 8477. Also, "fine tune" the remote in the setup to a response delay of about 250 ms. This is a little short for the lower (analog) channels, and a little long for the upper (digital) channels. The FAQ (pointer at the top of these pages), describes how to fine tune the unit and how to set the number of digits for the DCT-1/2000 boxes. Follow the same steps for the Explorer box with the settings above.

Fixing these settings sped channel surfing from ~10 sec per channel change to less than 1.

If you enter the digits manually to change the channel, don't forget to hit "enter" typing in the channel number on the remote.
