Component Cable distortion

352 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  ceccacci
I have the Panasonic 47X54. When hooking up my Panasonic DVD player (DVD-RV30), I noticed that with component cables I get better color but I also get ghosted horizontal lines that are slightly visible, especially in he background of the picture. I looks somewhat like horizontal banding on an inkjet print.

When I hook up with the S Video cable the lines aren't there. Anyone know why?

BTW: This is an older DVD player that is not progressive scan.

Don't worry about it. If it looks better with s-video, just use that and you will be fine. Hope this helps, and welcome to the fourm.
You might try turning off the 3D Y/C filter.

PICTURE -> OTHER ADJ. -> 3D Y/C FILTER -> OFF.

Comb filter is not applicable to S-Video or component inputs.
You might try different component cables. If s-video is looking better, something is wrong....
