I am a little confused when it comes to these 3 terms (Component/Progressive/RGB). My Panasonic Screen says it supports both Component and RGB. I'm assuming RGB means "red/green/blue" and component means "Pb/Pr/Y". My screen and HDTV digital receiver also include H/V sync. Does the H/V sync only apply to RGB? Also what does progressive scan DVD players use, component or RGB?

yes, but your device may have a selction switch to choose between rgb or component. In that case, H/V are not used.

Depends on your model

Really won't make too much of a difference either way. The hdtv or dvd signal internally starts out component and the display is rgb, so a conversion needs to be done someplace.

I would use component. You run 3 versus 5 wires, and there's a chance the transcoder in the tv is better than set top box.
