I had a pretty major crash that required that I reinstall Win98SE. Everything is back to normal expect for my HiPix card. I reinstalled my previously used drivers/application (Beta 3) and everything seemed like it worked fine. However, whenever I start the HiPix app I never can get passed the "Initializing..." message. It just sits there and does nothing. Every once in a while Windows will give me a blue warning message when I retry to start it again. I have since retried installing the RC1 drivers but the same thing happens.

What is the possibility that my HiPix card is damaged/dead? I will try to install it in another computer later on this week but I wanted to know if anyone else has seen this happen.

I ran into a similar problem when I installed RC1, after having very successfully run all the betas up to that point. Trying to get it to work again, I uninstalled various boards until it worked again. The problem seemed to be with the drivers for my BT878 card, an I/O Magic PC-VCR.

The work-around I came up with was to re-install that, but to disable some portions of it's software. I only use it with dScaler so as long as that worked, I'd be happy.

The PC-VCR wants to install 4 different drivers. I don't use the tuner in it so I disabled that, as well as the "WDM Crossbar". I have no idea what that is, but disabling it allowed the HiPix to work again, and the card works with dScaler.

I haven't had any crashes using either the HiPix or dScaler. Obviously there is some sort of conflict that should be resolved, but the work-around is OK for my purposes.
