Hi guys I need some help here if possible. I listen to my mp3's through my home theater system. I have been using a mini jack to rca adapter then running the rcas to the receivers cd in. I am using a cheap adapter and a cheap audio rca.

What is my best solution to improve the sound. I want to get the sound quality up towards the range of a dvd player playing a cd if possible. Ive noticed in my current setup it doesnt properly use the sub.

Which option should I go with:

1. Buy a better Mini to RCA cable

2. Buy a Sound Audigy Pro with the breakout box and hook up using a optical cable.

3. Any other options you guys may have

I would prefer to do #1 as its much cheaper but I want much better sound comparable to a cd player

Also what softward is best to use for mp3's?

Are you going to game on this thing? If not, instead of the sound blaster, buy a Chaintech AV-710 for $25 and an optical digital cable (not that overpriced monster cable stuff), and you're good to go. This way you can avoid the issue soundblasters have with automatically resampling 44.1khz audio to 48khz, which will drive some people absolutely nuts (like my wife and me). The Chaintech won't and then you can set it up for bit-perfect audio if you want.

If you intend to do a lot of gaming, though, you're probably better off with an Audigy. That way you get EAX support.
