Computer Monitor as HDTV

410 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  raw92378
I'm curious.........

Before making the plunge into a big HDTV purchase, I want to test it out -- see what I think. I have a spare computer monitor and can get a RCA DTC100 fairly cheap. Will this combo work (at least temporary) for a HDTV set-up?

Thanks.

It should work, although some computer monitors seems to have problems with the DTC100 output. If you can try it first, or if returns are easy, I'd say go for it.

I've had no problems plugging my Zenith HDV420 into computer monitors.

One warning: Doing what you propose will cause you to lust for a much bigger screen.
Thanks.

Thats the point.

:)
If you want a bigger screen, check out the Monivision DM7752ST monitor which has a 36" viewable screen.
Another option would be the use of a HD decoder card in your computer. This would provide you the additional option of recording HD content to your hard drive. Check out the Home Theater Computers forum for more details on this subject.
But it won't allow for DTV content.....Will it?
