confused about audio connections

216 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Ozy666
I am such a noob when it comes to sound technology. Computers I know about, but the whole sound areana is out of my sphere.

My htpc has a soundblaster live! sound card. I need to connect it to the old receiver I have. The receiver uses the same type of connections that composit cables use, the yellow and white if memory serves me right. It will be around a 30 foot cable run. What do I use? Remember im not up on all the audio terminology, so someone please explain to me what to do. And please keep the explaination simple. The more I read the more confused ive become about sound. You guys know way way way to much about sound!(grin).

Thank you in advance.

You simply need a cable pair with 2 RCA plugs on one end (for the receiver) and whatever cable connection your SB card uses for analog output on the other. It is usually a single stereo 1/8" plug. Your local Radio Shack should be able to handle this request.

Thank you very much!! Cant beleive its so simple, you have no idea how convulted my thinking became on this after all the tech audio reading. lol.
And generally the colors for stereo audio are red and white RCA plugs.
