Is there a sticky or thread I should 'know about' that explains why we are now forbidden from discussing the prices of LCD tvs? I would think that's why the majority of people come here. I've looked around and cant find any reason for this policy change.

Though the policy is not consistenly enforced, I don't think it's new. Sponsors pay AVS's bills, so they don't want discussion of the prices offered by non-sponsors.


I'll say this - thank god monoprice is a sponsor, because I refer posters to them all the time.

I think the people running this site don't want it to devolve into a price discussion in every thread where people are just comparing different deals since there are already a lot of sites like that.

Forum rules are a link in my sig(from 2004!). Price discussion other than MSRP has always been off limits and is not a new thing or a changed policy.


It has nothing to do with protecting sponsors and everything to do with keeping this a technical forum, rather than a price and deals discussion forum as that is not what this site is about. Forum sponsors have to abide by the same rules as everyone else. Prices other than MSRP are not allowed on this board NOMATTER who the vendor is.
