My new house is pre-wired for surround sound however the wireing has got me a bit confused!

There are 4 ceiling plates each containing a jacketed pair of speaker wire (all four are red/black pairs).

The "access panel" contains 2x 4 wire jacket (each red/black/green/ white).

I have tried connecting a speaker to the jacketed pair coming out of the ceiling and testing each of the 4 wires with a batter, with no luck.

Help, please!!!

You house may also have wiring run to wall boxes for volume controls that are not connected. Look around. The next thing is to go to HD or Lowe's and but a wire tracer/toner. This emits a strong signal that can be detected through walls so you can trace the bath of the wires.

The cost is about 20-30.00.
