Hi Everyone,

Can I connect a local Cable TV signal to a ViewSat Ultra and get the picture to display? I do not have any other tuner; I have a Pioneer Elite KRP500M which does not have a tuner, and a Denon AVR-2803 which only has a tuner for Audio (FM/AM). I gave away my old VCRs, and am now regretting it. So only thing that accepts a video signal is a ViewSat Ultra, and I have no idea how to get the signal out. Ideas?

No!

If you don't want HD you can purchase a DVD recorder with a QAM tuner.

Don't know what you subscribe to but you will be limited to the unscrambled digital channels.

If you do want HD you need to purchase a stand alone HD tuner or rent one from your local cable-co.

Thanks very much, I think I understand after looking up QAM. I have an old Media Center TV with the right hardware; its supposed to be used with Windows Media Center, but I installed XP overtop so the miss can use it as her personal computer.

We'll see if it works with SageTV.
