I have a pioneer sc-lx704 receiver and want to hook-up a monster mpa3250. Please advise the best way to do so and what cables you recommend.

Thanks for the help.

Monster 3250 manual It has both RCA (unbalanced) and XLR (balanced) inputs.

The pioneer sc-lx704 only has RCA pre-outs, so you'd use RCA cables. I'm using 3 of these: Hosa HRR-005. There are more expensive ones but stll snakeoil free ones (Bluejeans, for example) and cheaper ones (Monoprice). I suggest using ones based on coaxial cable, as they have good shielding.

Any special settings in the pioneer?

Imo, if you want a good quality cable at a reasonable price Blue Jeans is what I recommend. That's what most of my RCA cables are.

The SC-LX704 has a preamp mode that lets you turn off the amplifiers that power the speaker terminals if using an external amp.
Besides saving power, this also allows a cleaner signal to the amp if/when you turn the volume up high.

I'm unfamiliar with the LX704.

Are those settings per amp, or only for all amps like the Denon AVR-X3700H?
You can turn off "Front" for L+R, "Front + Center" for LCR, or "All".
The older SC-LX701 (and higher models) have a similar capability.

I don't think you can reassign the Front L+R amps to power the last 2 surrounds though, which would be convenient for a 7.2.4 system if using LR or LCR amps.

Just plug your rca's in to the Pioneers's preouts and your good to go. Thats how it works for my Pioneer SC 81. After reading this thead I turned off my speakers thinking I should. I noticed my amp sounds better just leaving them on for some reason. Also expierement with cables as.... THERE CAN BE A DIFFERENCE. Its not always snake oil. Some cables are made better than others. The Audioholics guys have an agenda to sell their gear.
Always be leery of people that can't be reasoned with.

There can be clear differences with the quality of the connectors. Claims about the sound quality from the actual wire should be regarded with skepticism.

If you can afford cables that are $100US or more per foot (30cm), and are the sort of person that can hear a difference from such expenses, go for it, regardless of how bizarre the claims for such products often are.

Actually theres not as many people here these days to listen to this neverending argument. You may as well be screaming into to wind.
Does the amp have a 12V trigger TC? Or you'll need a smart surge protector or you'll need to turn the amp on and off all the time.

That's a forum sponsor, this guy is going to end up in the penalty box. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Seems unlikely. I don't even own any BlueJeans gear. (I'm too cheap.)
