i have 5.1 surround on my computer, and i'm trying to figure out how exactly i can connect this system to my tv instead of using the tv speakers. i dont want to buy a receiver and go with a full home theater surround sound system because its only in my bedroom, so its not like it needs to be the best. if i connect the tv to the line-in on my sound card, will that allow me to use the speakers when watching tv that is not off the htpc, like satelite or whatever? what exactly do i need to do/buy?

Only if the TV has an audio-out jack. I would just tune everything through the htpc, that's what I do.
