First time poster, long time reader.

My roommate and I put together a media pc and got it hooked up to the tv via 7pin Svid. It does not have Hdmi.

His sound card built in is 7.1 sound. We have it currently hooked up to a Klipsch promedia 5.1 speaker set.

The problem lies is we are running a audio cable from Audio out on the TV to the line in on the sound card but so far have only been able to get 2.1 sound working. The motherboard is a M4A785TD-V EVO/U3S6.

We have messed around with the sound cards control panel and windows control panel and at this point we are getting slightly frustrated.

We know the surround set works when running windows based stuff but anything from the tv or anything hooked up to the tv is only using 2.1 sound.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Matt

Hi Matt and welcome to forum. What kind of cable Optical or RCA?

Most Tv's will output 5.1 audio through Audio Output via optical cable if using the internal tuner for OTA. Anything connected to Tv gets downgraded to 2CH stereo when passed through the Tv. Check the Tv owners manual and see if there is a surround sound setting to enable 5.1.
