First question - I have a Denon X1000 5.1 receiver. Is it worth the trouble for me to upgrade to a x.2 receiver with 2 discrete sub outs, or am I fine just with a Y splitter on the one sub out? Does Audyssey do significantly better with those 2 discrete outputs?

I've got an Energy S10.3 already and have the opportunity to snag a Klipsch Synergy Sub10. I've read about mixing brands, seems like it can work fine. Need to balance the output with SPL meter @ 6 inches for both devices and find a couple good spots for them. Any other advice or anyone who has this particular combination?

I'm fine with the output level of my current sub, just looking for increased evenness around the room and can get this second one for cheap.

You shouldn't have any major issues getting the two subs to play nice together once you get each in a good spot and properly calibrated. As for your receiver, just get a male to two female Y-splitter for a couple bucks and your good to go.
