So many threads are open with so much information scattered, I've tried to consolidate it all in one thread. If something is incorrect please correct me! I will edit the thread asap.

Note: All HD DVD players are subject to the 5 free HD DVD deal from Toshiba in addition to any free movies from the online retailer or B&M store

Note: The HD-A2 does not come with high definition cables unless otherwise stated

Costco

Costco is selling the HD-D2 for $249.99 + Sales Tax plus a free HDMI cable. This deal is starting today and I do not know when it ends. It will probably end on June 16th when the entire promotion ends

Note: The HD-D2 IS the HD-A2, it simply has a different name. This appears to be good in stores only. Costco does NOT have this on their website

Best Buy + Circuit City

$299.99 HD-A2 + 5 free movie deal from Toshiba

Amazon and Amazon Sellers

That VE deal is by far the best one with all that free stuff. I think I'm going to bite

It is. I went to the local Costco only because VE is on the east coast, and I'm on the west coast.

... and I'm not patient enough to wait for UPS.
Are these prices before or inluding the $100 rebate?

Good question.
Including the rebate.

I ordered the A2 earlier from VE. Will be selling my 360 add-on.
Hopefully, there will be a similar deal on the HD-A20 in a couple of weeks. If so, I'm definitely pulling the trigger.

Including, the MSRP of the HD-A2 is $399, the most expensive anyone will see them the next few weeks is $299

Thanks for taking the time to put together the list, makes things easier to look at, and show the wife!

I'm so torn on jumping in the so called "war" or not. I really want to, but there's just so many movies I want that aren't available on hd-dvd. There's a ton of movies I want that Universal is putting out, so I'm in a pickle!

The way I look at it, score yourself an HD DVD player, some free movies, along with a good upconverting DVD player. Even if the format doesn't pan out, the player itself will still be useful in playing standard DVDs along with the HD DVDs you do own.

Hi Z, speaking as someone that who owns both formats my recommendation is for $300 you'll be thrilled not only with the HD DVD releases but how well it upconverts your existing DVDs too

What kind of T-shirt is it?

It could just be a VE t-shirt - I got one years ago when I bought an HD Directivo from them.
It's fair to mention the 40$ off CC discount for 'recently moved people' and the 10% off coupon at CC for AAA members.

For the 10% off deal.

Puts the A2 at 270 + 81$ for Matrix Ultimate after pricematch and 10% off + 2 free movies in store + 5 free movies out of store.

= 351$ for essentially 11 movies and an HD-DVD player.
Michael,

This is misleading on the CC + BB section....

"Total: $299.99 HD-A2 + Matrix Trilogy + 2 Free movies from Best Buy + 5 free movies from Toshiba"

This is incorrect as you need to ADD in the cost of the matrix trilogy as well, which puts that package up around ~370.

This is a great thread, but the Best Buy and Circuit City description is a little misleading. You make it seem as if for $299, you get the player, the Matrix Trilogy, the 2 other movies, etc. You should add on the price of the Matrix Trilogy set to the $299, then put what you will get free after that. The $299 price point does not include the Matrix Trilogy. Other than that, great thread.

**EDIT** dlconner beat me to it.
