Consumer level HD test pattern generator

535 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  stefuel
For a while, HD NET was putting up test patterns in the morning. That was great but they seem to have stopped providing these. Does someone have a consumer grade test pattern gen for HD. I'd be happy with a gen that did a ten step grayscale, full white and full black in both 720P and 1080I just to get the colors correct.

Buy the Sencore for $5K! :) Not much else out there that I know of.
What about a DVHS machine with Digital Video Essentials, wouldn't that do it?

That does seem to be the least expensive route at least.

Consumer level??? Mark, not just for my self but for the thousands of people buying crap from BB and CC that could do their own with VE and a DVD player. You know these will be at best close from the factory. There is only a couple of idiots like me that would actually spend that kind of money to maintain their own equipment.:D

Got a PC and PAINT?

How about a video card that can deliver 1920x1080?

If the answer is yes to both, you can make your own test patterns for free.

It just takes a little time.

Any chance of a .m2 or .m2t file of some useful 1080i patterns? I have a firewire connection to my HD Box, and I can feed it as if it was connected to a D-VHS , just wondering ;)
Does'nt it have to output tri-level sync to be a valid HD test signal?
