Contact HBO! Thank them for OAR - Forrest Gump!

Finally we get to see some OAR HD content on HBO!

I want to encourage everyone to send them feedback and let them know how glad you were that they showed Forrest Gump in OAR.

I know a bunch of us have sent them messages in the past asking for this, now we need to make sure they know we noticed!

Even if you missed the show, drop them a note and tell them you heard about it after the fact...

To make it easy, here is a link to the feedback page:

I am pretty shure it was an old transfer.

Yes,, and it suffered from the Vertical Blind defect. See this thread .
It was an old transfer, but I really enjoyed it. At least it wasnt chopped up.
I really enjoyed it, what a beatiful picture. It did not come in Dolby Digital, I wonder why.

I did contact HBO, hope they continue to provide us with OAR and more movies and shows, especially Sex & The City.

Regards,

Carlos

None of their movies that are in 2.35:1 have 5.1 sound because all those transfers were done before they added the capability to broadcast in 5.1 (so the transfers werent done that way). They didnt add 5.1 capability until July of 2000 and their "fill the screen" at all costs policy on any new transfers had already gone into effect by then.

That seems to be the consensus (too bad it isn't the new policy), but my request to contact HBO still stands.

Giving positive feedback when the show things in OAR should be at least as valuable as negative feedback when the don't....

It was a gorgeous transfer. Let's hope this continues.
Loved it! Never heard the info on 5.1 and 2;35 ratios. Interesting! Ill have to look for this! Did you folks at Showtime watch. hint...hint....
Hello, I am a newbie and was not aware of the meaning of OAR. Could someone please explain? I've checked the FAQ and the Glossary above and could not find it listed. TIA

OAR = original aspect ratio = the way it was intended to be seen in a theater.

Cropovision = Panavision film with an OAR of 2.39 to 1 converted to 1.78 to 1 by HBO.

No it will not :) I mean the OAR.
Just flipping through channels and saw a letterboxed movie on HBO and couldn't believe my eyes! Guess it's true! :)
