I am in Freehold, NJ and I have just received 2 SA4200 boxes (because

they were out of the HD boxes, but should be coming sometime soon I hope). I am trying to set them up (in a single equipment closet) and control them as follows:

1 to a JVC HD VCR to a Runco Projector

1 to a DVD Recorder to a SONY rear projection TV


My question is how can I control the 2 boxes independently (i.e.

program one while the other is not effected)?


I used to be able to power the old cablevision box, and the signal still came thru to the VCR/TV. Now with the 4200 when I power one off no signal gets through. So my work around is to block the one I don't want to

program/control and then move the block to the other one and program

that one ... not very elegant. I also have IRs being run so that I

can keep the equipment closet closed and control all, but this will

not work with the 2 new boxes.


Does anyone have any suggestions?

Posed a variation of this query a while back and someone suggested using an infrared=>RF adapter for one remote, shielding that converter from infrared commands. Such conversion hardware, which permits operating remotes through walls, might be researched at google.com or perhaps the home theater builder/accessories forums here. -- John
