Yesterday I thought I should check the black level and white level on my BD808.

I used Avia's (not Pro) basic patterns for black level and white level.

According to those patterns 43 was "correct" for brightness and 45 contrast.

A bit unsure about contrast, since I had to turn up contrast quite a bit before it started to show a tiny amount of blooming.

Anyway, I then went to the other test patterns and put up a grey step pattern.

It didn't say in the menu how much each step was but I would guess in steps of 10 IRE.

When I put up the test pattern both the lowest IRE steps was not visable.

The first step I can understand but I didn't see the second step until I put brightness to 63.

G2 has been set using the pots (dialed in so that the LED is lit).

What is the cure for this, renting a colorimeter and calibrate the grey scale or is there something I should check before that ?
