I have a background in Compuetr programming, and find myself wondering...

Controllable receivers/pre-pro's that have serial connections...How does one go about getting the applicable functions and the associated inputs/outputs.

Thats something I could find myself spending MANY sleppless nights doing :)

CQC has a generic driver which you can use to create CQC drivers for devices without doing any programming. So if you are interested in controlling your serial devices, and CQC doesn't support all of them already, a reasonably technical person can pretty easily master the generic protocol language and do their own driver. And of course I will be happy to assist anyone who wants to give it a whirl.

I also have support for the Denon 4802 (which should also work with the 5803 in theory), but I'd like to get some more processors and receivers under control.

You would have to check with the manufacturer to see if they publish the RS-232 protocols. For example in the case of the Lexicon's they are downloadable from their website.
