Five question mostly regarding the ecp model 3100/4100 but in general:

1) what is the ratio to the screen size and sitting distance to get good view

2) Are the cross hatch # squares suppose to be variable in sizes (line thickness)? I get blue biggest, green, then red smallest

3)Does switch the color bnc around damage your projector?

4)How can you tell if your tube need replacing rather then your skill lack thereof of adjusting the focus

5)if set vga view in 800x600, does the frequecy matter in relation to quality?

thanks,

1) Many people say 1.5:1. I say "Sit where it feels the best."

2) Yes and No. Blue will usually be largest because it is intentionally de-focused. Red/Green are usually close. Differences should be very slight. You might want to check the astig/focus on your PJ.

3) Nope! In fact if one color started acting funny you could swap it around with another as an easy test to make sure the cables are good. CAUTION: Swapping the HV sync cable can potentially damage some PJs.

4) Check astig. Adjust electronic focus while looking at the tube face. If astig is correct and the electronic focus will over and under focus the tube BUT the tube never "really" focuses...then you probably need a tube.

5) Yes. Higher refreshes tend to be softer with some PJs.
