I have a DSS receiver (Dish PVR508) running to a Yamaha amp via the s-video and optical audio outputs. The unit also passes through a cable signal, but will only output it via an f-type coax directly to the monitor. I need a converter to take as input the raw cable signal via an f-type connector and output (preferably) via s-video and some form of audio output (either L/R RCA or optical). I know that it can be done with a cable box (obviously) but I don't want to spend the money for stuff I don't need (channel changer, decoder, etc) as I only use the cable for local channels. I could also do it by routing the signal through another device such as a VCR but I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible.

Radio Shack and others make devices which go the other way (eg, a video RF modulator which takes s-video and audio signals as input and outputs a unified VHF-TV signal), but nothing that seems to do what I'm looking for.

Does anyone have any ideas? Or am I (in my naivete) entirely missing something?

Thanks.
