Convert Crown XLS 1000 and 1500 to 220v

I may be moving abroad. I'd like to take my Crown amps with me. It seems like it would be easy enough to convert my Crown XLS 1000 and 1500 amps to 220v. Anybody ever do this? I've found something a service manual. It has some schematics but not all I would need. Any tips or suggestions would be helpful.

Pretty adventurous to be lifting the lid and converting amps yourself. ;)

I'd price check step-down transformers in your destination country if you really want to take the Crowns with you.

For example: https://www.tortech.com.au/product/...onomy/economy-american-step-down-transformer/.

The Crown XLS' amps are fairly ubiquitous though... An alternative is to sell them before you leave and re-buy in the destination country. You'd have to weigh that up against the cost of transformers, any shipping costs for your amps and the hassle of buying/selling.

I was an electrical engineer in a former career. I've lost quite a bit of the knowledge but the skills for soldering are still there. From my understanding, the 120v versions of these amps use a voltage doubler before the full wave rectifier. So, it should be as simple as removing/bypassing the voltage doubler. But I'd like to make sure there's not something that I'm missing.

its not difficult if you know what you're doing. i was able to change all my crown XLS (5*1000 & 1*1500) amps from 120v to 240v. Have a look here and here. Summary was cut a jumper and add two resistors.

Its been a while since i did the conversion but if you have any questions let me know.

regards
