Hi

These HD receivers run hot, especially the Samsung TS160

I don't know whether it will shorten the life span. There were

recommendation of Cyber Cooler Latop fan tray for cooling, but

I can only find USB version and not the AC version. Would a

powered USB hub will have enough power to drive these fan

tray? I would think so, since it USB device after all.

Anybody tried this?

The TS160 is not that hot, compared to the E86, it's like a spring day and IMO, does not need any additional cooling unless you lock it away in a blocked cabinet. I have both the E86 and TS160, I do not add addional cooling to the ts160, but have the cybercooler (using 5v psu) on the E86 without any issues.

I noticed my T150 ran a little 'warmish' and decided to add a fan on top because heat is one of the main enemies of IC's. I took an old 12VDC PC fan and connected it to a 6V 'wall-wort' power supply. This lets the fan run slower (and quieter) than normal. I used some 2" screws to create legs for it and let it sit on top of the box. It is silent and moves enough air to cool the IC's. Much cheaper than those fancy cooler trays, although it is a little ugly (but it's hidden from view so who cares).
