I recently picked up the Akai PT4298HD at Costco, and so far Im quite happy with the unit. The price was good and the costco return policy was the clincher. SO.....


I really want to run through the convergence a bit more than the standard menu offers. Does anyone know how to access a service menu that might allow more convergence points?


ALso, Is there a way to play a dvd feed and set the convergence? I can only seem to access the internal test pattern, but I'd rather use on of my AVIA disc.

I know this model is very similiar to the Samsung 42" HCN4226W. Does anyone have experience with that model?

I answered my own question by using the samsung technique.


With the power off... MUTE, 1, 8, 2, POWER.


That will take you the service menu. You can't change the video selection while its activated, so if your using component video for a test DVD, make sure it was last selected.


One interesting note... It appears that DVI was turned off on the service menu. WHen I have time, I'll take the input panel off the back to see if a DVI connection is back there. Might only need some simple soldering.

The convergence grid is accessed by hitting MUTE 183 with the set on.
